Leisure Groups

All members have the opportunity to play bowls of a social and very friendly nature throughout the year regardless of their ability. We take part in regular inter-Probus Club matches. Summer games including a number of pairs, triples and double triple competitions are held at the long established Victoria Bowling  Club in Norwich. In winter social games are played at the Roundwood Indoor Club at Taverham.

We run a monthly bridge competition at the Roundwood Suite, Taverham on the third Thursday morning of each month for members, their guests and members of other Probus Clubs in the Norwich area. We play Chicago bridge, not Duplicate, and the emphasis is always on friendly competition between players who know the game, perhaps play socially and would like to widen their experience in a larger group.

For the benefit of members who play golf, we organise two or three golfing days each year in or near Norwich. These are very much social occasions and also include members of other Norwich Probus Clubs, together with guests. These are usually held in spring, summer and autumn with the summer meeting including a competition for the Norwich Club Golf Cup. In addition, two members represent Tas in the Norwich Probus Sports Day held annually in July. All golfers, of whatever handicap, are welcome.

On the first Wednesday of each month we arrange a walk of usually between 3.5 and 6.5 miles in the Norfolk/Suffolk area starting at 10.30am and ending at a local pub for lunch, a just reward for our labours. We welcome wives and guests to our small group and always have time for a good old mardle.
